Substance Use Counseling & Psychoeducation
"Addiction" is a loaded word!
As a Certified Addiction Specialist (CAS) in the State of Colorado, I have provided services since 2012 as a counselor, group facilitator, and educator to those who have been challenged by substance use and dependency. I have worked in all levels of care and am compelled to offer as much support as I can through psychoeducation and counseling support with individuals struggling with a Substance Use Disorder (SUD), loved ones, and community members.
An area I feel has been largely neglected, is the common community narrative and misunderstanding regarding the difference between addiction and dependency. I have seen the pain it has caused for those who continue to fight for their recovery as well as those who love someone and are left feeling hopeless or discouraged.
I am dedicated to advocating for education and awareness regarding the continued harm perpetuated upon those whose lives have been severely impacted by an SUD; individuals, families, and communities.
I offer counseling, psychoeducation, workbooks, and online support groups with relation to:
- Preparing for change; "Stages of Change"
- "Stages of Recovery"
- What to expect in treatment and recovery programs and how to decide which program is best for you
- Self-Care when overwhelmed or experiencing emotions of abandonment, isolation, or shame.
- Learning more about the differences between addiction and dependency
- How to support someone struggling with a Substance Use Disorder
- What to watch for if you are concerned about developing a Substance Use Disorder; red flags and warnings
- Need to knows when selecting a personal counselor
- "Stages of Addiction" and "Stages of Recovery"
- Relapse Prevention
Individual counseling services are available to
- Those who are considering entering into treatment for recovery
